Adobe Podcast Enhance review: the free rescue that embarrasses paid tools — 80/100
Upload a noisy recording, wait, download a startlingly clean one. Enhance is the closest thing this category has to a magic trick — and it is precisely useless while you are actually speaking to anyone.
What Enhance is
Adobe Podcast Enhance (“Enhance Speech”) is a browser tool: you upload a recording, Adobe’s servers rebuild the speech, and you download the result. There is no install, no virtual microphone, no presence on your machine at all. That makes it the wrong answer for meetings and often the best first answer for anything already recorded — the interview taped in a café, the lecture with the air conditioner, the podcast guest who sat in their kitchen.
Reading the row: how a free web tool outscores paid software
Silence (9/10). On heavily damaged recordings, Enhance does not so much clean the audio as re-issue it. The failure mode is the mirror of the strength: at fixed strength on the free tier it can over-process, leaving voices slightly synthetic. The premium strength slider exists precisely because of that.
Toll (9/10). The work happens on Adobe’s hardware. Your laptop contributes a browser tab.

What the score refuses to hide
The caps and the catch, in plain figures:
- Free processing is capped at one hour per day and 30 minutes / 500 MB per file — a two-hour interview means splitting files and rationing days.
- No live mode exists at any price. For calls, this tool is a category error.
- Free-tier output strength is fixed: on lightly noisy audio it can over-clean into a processed sheen. The slider is a Premium feature.
- Your audio is processed on Adobe’s servers — fine for most, a policy question for client-confidential material.
